JOB SUMMARY:
The Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker will be responsible for maintaining the water and wastewater infrastructure. They will work alongside the Water/Wastewater Operator and Circuit Rider to obtain necessary training to maintain qualified status for the successful performance of this position.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Have knowledge of the water and wastewater system
- Operating and exercising valves
Cleaning valve boxes, painting valve caps
- Operating, maintaining and brushing fire hydrants
- Flush water mains as needed
- Water service locates and mapping
- Reporting records of routine maintenance to Water/Wastewater Operator
- Reporting records of emergency repairs to Water/Wastewater Operator
- Inspecting sewer manholes
- Map sewer manholes
- Back up for the Community Based Water Monitor water sampling program
- On site support for contractors during water/sewer repairs
- Assist with band public works/maintenance projects/housing projects
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- Hydrant maintenance training
- Water sampling training
- Water/sewer line repair training
- First Aid
Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
- Must have class 5 Drivers license
- Be able to become an Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) certified operator to the level of Small Water Systems and Small Wastewater Systems
WORKING CONDITIONS:
‘ Wear appropriate work attire including PPE
- Must be available in case of water/sewer emergency May work during inclement weather
Wage & Benefits
- Starting wage is $25.00—$30.00 based on experience
