QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate in Aboriginal Language Revitalization (Preference will be given to a Teachers Bachelor’s degree)
- Minimum 2 years of directly related experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience teaching individual and small group session
- Demonstrated interest in language revitalization
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Highly motivated and extremely organized
- Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Semi Fluent in the Language
- Good understanding and sound practice using Teams or Zoom
- Preferred experience in any of the following creating language and culture theme language and culture lessons and creating age appropriate Kwak’wala early learning lessons.
Job Responsibilities
- Teach Kwak’wala language and culture classes for Preschool to Grade 7
- Plan and prepare learning materials for weekly language classes
- Use a variety of approaches and materials, as appropriate, to address diverse learning needs
- Provide course outlines, all required subject matter or skill activity
- Direct participant learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment
- Clearly communicate in writing learning outcomes for programs and courses, and the way in which learners will be evaluated against those outcomes
- Report on students’ performance and progress
- Maintain records of participants achievement and other records
- Other duties as assigned
- Creates a positive teaching climate and culture
- Develops goals & objectives
- Focuses effectively on key results and priorities
- Demonstrates a focus on continuous improvement
