BACKGROUND:

The Northern Kwakwa'wakw Sexual Violence Response Network (the "Network") will look to create a network of support for, but not limited to the following: ensuring Network is inclusive of it's North Island Kwakwaka'wakw Nations and urban and away from home populations; responding to sexual violence in a holistic, safe, and meaningful way;supporting survivors of historical sexual violence, including tyhose of new sxual violence; providing support/healing for those who have harmed previously/currently/recently; building support/response networks for occurrences of sexual violence in the future; ensuring appropriate connections in existing programs and services, including Kackaamin's new Rebuilding the Circle program and other possible agencies/health authorities/indigenous organizations; and other appropriate modalties/training/early education to ensure success and healing of it's community members and the Network. This Network will focus on engagement with Northern Kwakwaka'wakw Nations regarding community needs; being inclusive of it's urban and away from home populations and agancies, and understanding what services are currently available in the North to address those needs, and what new servies, supports, or linkages may be required to ensure adequate response and support of community members. 

This project will be led by the Northern Kwakwaka'wakw communities (Kwakiutl, Quatsino, Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw, Dzawada'enuxw First Nations, Namgis First Nation, Kwikwasut'inuxw Haxwa'mis First Nation), with oversight provided by the Kwakiutl First Nation.

The project Manager/Coordinator will identify priorites through engagement with the Nations and provide updates to the Kwakwaka'wakw Health Directors table throughout the course of the project. This role involves collaberation with Indigenous community partners and provincail and regional health and social services organizations to facilitate engagement and implement community-led responses to responding to sexual violence. The project and Network aim to center Indigenour women, youth, 2spirit people, their communities, and urban and away from home population, through the creation and enhancement of accessible, context-specific, culturally-relevant approaches to prevention and healing.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

*Strategic coordination of the Network's overall project initiatives (training, education, advocacy, and prevention), including implementation and evaluation.

*Coordinates mapping of project timeline, outcomes, milestones, and plans; coordinates and facilitates Monthly Network Meetings.

*Coordinates education and training for community staff and service providers, including how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence.

*Supports coordination of community-based education relating to sexual violence prevention, including collaborating to produce written and electronic outreach materials to increase education and awareness of sexualized violence. 

*Liases with, and provides community referrals for, Indigenous women and folks of marginalized genders that have experienced violence in intimate relationships, sexual assault and/or childhood abuse.

*Collaborate with Indigenous partners to co-develop community engagement, learning opportunities and consultations processes recognizing unique cultural practices and protocols and ensuring a nation-based approach. 

*Support ongoing relationship and partnership development with Indigenous communities, Indigenous serving organizations, and anti-violence organizations, including existing and new community partners and overlapping initiatives.

*Oversees program budgets, expenditures, and re-imbursements.

*Oversees Evaluation and Knowledge Translation processes grounded in Indigenous and Decolonial approaches.

QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: 

* Diploma in related human/socail service field. 

*Minimum 2 years of university/advanced education, or the equivalent skills and knowledge gained from related experience and training. A combination of education, training, volunteerism, and lived experience will be considered

*Sound knowledge and understanding of the impacts of sexual assault, sexualized violence, and gender-based violence. 

*Training in cultural saftey and trauma-informed practice.

*Knowledge in Northen Kwakwaka'wakw communities and cultural protocols. 

*Knowledge of police victim servies and RCMP procedures in relation to sexual assault.

*Knowledge regarding First Nation laws and child welfare laws recommended.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

* Excellent communication skills. both verbal and written.

*Strong understanding and application of decolonial and inclusive frameworks.

*Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

*Ability to take initiative.

*Ability to manage multiple and diverse projects and deadlines.

*Excellent computer skills including Outlook, Word, and Google Drive.

*Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

*Valid BC drivers license.

*Signs and adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Code of Ethics.

*Criminal Record Check required.

OUTCOMES, DELIVERABLES, AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

*Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Terms of Reference (ToR) have been drafted to support the Network. If required, finalize and collate any/all executed MoU and ToR from participating Nations. 

*Mapping pathways to move the Network forward.

*Internal processes/pathways as they relate to the Network. These processes would/will align with Nation to partner/society/organization access services; Nation to Nation communications; how Nation/Individual would/will access supports/services. 

*Training documents and/or pathways as they may/will relate to Kackaamin's new Rebuilding the Circle program.

*Community engagement pathway.

*Education protocol coordination.

*Culturally relevant approaches to prevention and healing up to and including the above.

*Evaluation tool. Include next steps and/or phases to project.
