QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Grade 12, Language, and Culture certificates.

EXPERIENCE: 

Knowledge and Experience with Kwakiutl - Kwakwaka'waka Language and Culture. Knowledge and experience with language, song, dance and art. Knowledge and understanding of Big House customs. Speaks and/or willing to learn Kwak'wala

PERSONAL QUALITIES: 

Energetic, friendly, respectful, patient, caring, physically able to hike, dance, move as necessary during cultural activities. Shows through actions and lifestyle "maya'xala. dtaxa'noke, saltidas, wa'_la," the 4 pillars of Wagalus. Must be able to work with teacher and school team to encourage learning to the child's greatest ability. Must be self motivated, flexible, and creative person to help with classroom management, behavioral issues, and ways to assist teacher. Must be a team player with good communications skills. 

DUTIES: 

*Assisting with cultural activities in the class, field and in the Big House. 

*Working with elementary students.

*Assisting with classroom activities

*Working with the teacher to create a warm, creative and educational enviroment for children to learn.

*Working 1:1, small groups and large groups, playground supervision and other duties as required.
