The allowed to eat is shellfish is 14 mpn/100g
Standard drinking water is 0 mpn/100g
Standard for swimming waters is 200mpn/100g
The shellfish crew sampled
42 Cockles the lab results says these species were at 50 mpn/100g
After depuration of 7 days the results are at 20 mpn/100g
70 Butter clams were sampled and sent to the NI lab the results were 1300mpn/100g
After 7 days of depuration the results are 170 mpn/100g
70 little necks were sampled and these species were at 20 mpn/100g after depuration these species stayed the same at 20 mpn/100g
Having these results in we now know we need to keep them on the raft to depurate an extra 2 more days, total of 9 days. This is valuable information to see that the depuration facility is working it just needs more time to cleanse.
Hydraulic sampling
Cory Hunt and Thomas are working with the senior Biologist from fisheries and I on Hydraulic sampling in the Cluxewe River .Hydraulic sampling is a device that extracts sand, gravel, eggs and alevin. This is an excellent way to see what salmonids using the river to spawn .This project is an asset for future projects on the Cluxewe River.
